It’s raining and it suits my mood so I went off into town on the bus and then caught another bus out to Dobies Garden Centre and had a wander around in the rain.  It was quite a successful trip as it happens as I managed to pick up a few bargains and a few things I was looking for.

I bought some lavender plants since the 84 plugs I bought don’t look that healthy.  I remain unconvinced that buying plug plants is a good idea.  I also got some cotton lavender (Santolina), some lawn chamomile just because I couldn’t resist – I have seeds but I just adore the smell so I bought some little pots of it.  They also had French tarragon so I got a couple of those too, and I will endeavour to take cuttings from them when they are bigger since it doesn’t grow from seed apparently (Russian Tarragon does and I have some in the greenhouse)  Also bought quite a big Valerian plant just because it looked great.  Something else I have as seeds but having a plant is nice too just to have something that looks good now.  They were selling off all their veg seedlings since a lot of them were getting to the bolting stage but I managed to pick up some healthy looking mizuna (Japanese mustard) which should do OK.

Coming back wasn’t so much fun as I had a lot of standing around waiting for buses and then when it finally did turn up it was standing room only, so I decided to walk to the bus station and wait for the next one.  While I was waiting I got some supplies at Holland and Barrett.  They had a special on packets of Neal’s Yard fruit and nuts etc, and then I picked up some bird seed in the pound shop.
