So it’s nearly that time of the year when little children come to your front door selling crappy mass produced tablet to aid some cause or other. It’s pretty awful stuff. You know the kind that people make using water and lots of sugar? It’s so hard you could break a tooth trying to bite it. Real Tablet is not made with water and will not break your teeth (it will of course rot your teeth in a much more subtle and long term way)
Mum has been hinting for oh at least a month now, that it was tablet making time and expecting me to produce a bag of the homemade goodness out of my bag, every time I visited. (I can’t tell you how disappointed she was when I pulled a bag of home-made muesli out of that bag lol) Anyway, I finally got around to making some yesterday, mainly because it’s a friend’s birthday soon and that’s what they’re getting (along with some other stuff) and because it’s traditional for Halloween, and because, yes I will be visiting my mother on Sunday and yes, she will be expecting it.

This is the Tablet “after” picture – after I’ve cooked and beat up the tablet mixture, this is what’s left in the saucepan. I dunno what happened to the “before” pic but it looks a lot like the fudge pic below.
and this is where it went! One tray of tablet ready for scoring and cutting. The tablet is vegetarian not vegan as I wanted to use up a tin of condensed milk that was still in the cupboard. Haven’t tasted this one but it looks as it should and I have it on good authority (the BIL) that it’s the bees knees. The true test will be on Sunday (mum)

yup definitely fudge 🙂 Vanilla pecan fudge, vegan friendly and everything. I had some while I was making it (see spoon) and after it was set, and also this morning… just to be sure 🙂
PS I have failed in all my other planned Halloween projects so far. Memo to self: must start earlier!
