Anyone who knows me knows that I’ve been a fan of Elle Macpherson’s for a long time but this latest news has really made me quite ashamed to be a fan at all, and I have to now say that this may be the last straw. I’m so disappointed.

Guess what Elle? It’s not working so well for the dead rhino whose horn you’re using as a beauty product. Not only that but many species of rhino are on the endangered list!!! Wake up and smell the dead rhinos! This makes me so mad.
There are five species and 11 subspecies of rhinos; three of the five species are critically endangered, while white rhinos are “near threatened” and Indian rhinos are “vulnerable.” There are thought to be only about 60 Javan rhinos left in the entire world. Despite their endangered status, poaching of rhinoscontinues and is growing — fueled by the high prices that can be fetched for their horns, which are used in Chinese medicine. Rhino horn is worth about 50 percent more, per kilogram, than gold, which only contributes further poaching. When you get celebrities like Elle Macpherson talking about how awesome rhino horn powder is — even if it’s also illegal for her to use it — the appeal of the product is only heightened.

I tried to ignore the news a few years ago that she and her husband had bought “one of England’s finest shooting estates” and how good a shot she was ie how good at killing animals she was, but I’m afraid there is no hope for the woman. Time to take down my really big poster of Elle MacPherson from my wall – goodbye Elle. I really love(d) your lingerie too but I won’t be buying any more of it. No more support from me 🙁
