So it was clearly the wrong time to start 100 days of raw last month so I decided to start it today. This will be day one and we will be taking it one month at a time so I don’t get too stressed out about counting days etc. Mainly I will be juicing but I will likely supplement the juicing with fruit and some salad for variety. Starting on the 9th January I will also be joining in the World’s Biggest Juice Detox with Jason Vale. It’s a 7lbs in 7 days challenge but I will already have been juicing for quite some time before that so I thought I may as well tag along. I’m also looking for a local yoga class to join as it’s been so long since I’ve been in a real class and I do have some goals that I need to work on.
There are also some other personal goals that I’ve set for myself this year which I might share later, but it’s enough to say that they are all based around making me healthier and happier. It is almost two years since I became a full time vegan (after trying and failing multiple times!) and I’m happy to say that I can’t ever imagine going back to eating the way I used too (all that cheese!) There are no cravings at all and I don’t *want* those foods so therefore I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything. Actually the look and smell of them now makes me feel a bit queasy and I used to be a big cheese fan. The other thing that has just stopped is my drinking alcohol. I haven’t had any for over a year now and that’s just because I stopped having a craving for it. Also all those little triggers that make you feel like you might want a nice glass of wine have just disappeared! So I don’t think about it and I don’t want any. This is really weird for me too believe me.
Anyway, what I was going to say above was that once upon a time when I was vegetarian, I used to think veganism was unnecessary and that I would never be a vegan so I was about to say that I could never become a raw vegan full time but then remembered that I used to say that about being a vegan and look what happened! I should just say that at the time I didn’t know why most people were switching to vegan diets and I didn’t take the trouble to find out either so I did think as a cheese-loving vegetarian that it was unnecessary to drop the dairy. I of course know different now and am much more enlightened lol. So I am now 100% raw for the next few months and then take it from there. I have already been raw for the whole month of November when I did my 30 days of juicing so I’ve had a “raw juice” month already under my belt and this just feels like second nature even in this really cold weather! Doing without hot food in cold weather is something I’ve never been really successful with in the past (or even considered doing!) but I’m having no probs with it at all.
